and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know. " - Albert Manguel.
That is why I read. Books are an escape to a new world where you indulge in a great love story that is far from reality but you love it anyway or maybe you like suspenseful books full of twists and turns that keep you at the edge of your bed or sofa turning the page like a maniac. My personal faves are the ones that make me cry. Why? I am not sure but I love a book that can move me so much that I can cry tears of joy, sadness and happiness all at once. Tell me that you've never felt that?
My all time favorite book is " The fault in our Stars"- By John Green. This book moved me and for days if not months after reading it I could not gather myself to read another book and move forward. Honestly I felt like there was a piece of me missing after I read that book. I lived this book with the turn of every page. My favorite lines are these : "There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There's .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities. A writer we used to like taught us that. There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I'm likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You gave me forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful.” I love these words more and more every time I read them. These words resonate with me because they are so true. Sometimes we get a love that may be great but sometimes its bound for some sort of tragedy.
I'd say we all have a love like Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters. Sometimes its timing sometimes it's more than that and sometimes its just a tragically beautiful love that we get to call ours for a brief moment in our lives and we move on with a piece of us missing but we thrive. That is what books are to me , they are stories I live and in every book I learn or see something new that I take with me and move forward. I read because it fuels my mind and it fills me with stories and experiences that I live briefly within the pages of each book. What is your favorite type of book? Do you like love, romantic comedies, suspense, tragic love stories or self-help books? I love them all and in this blog I will be writing about all the books I love and all my other hobbies like photography and everyday things. Follow along as I embark on this new journey.
