" You may not control all the events that happen to you , but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud. Do not complain. Make an effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking.. You might find a new solution" - Maya Angelou.
Lets establish one thing. If you feel stuck inside the life you are living. YOU NEED THIS BOOK.
Mastin Kipp's Claim Your Power is brilliant ,motivational and moving. I felt as if Mastin was watching from the outside in when I started reading this book. This book spoke to me in ways I cannot describe and let me tell you. I haven't even finished it, Imagine when I do. A while back on my Instagram Stories I mentioned that this book is a 40 -Day Journey and if you guys would like a day by day follow along of my time reading this book and you guys voted yes, so here we go. I started this book about a month and a half ago, however I hit a slump and although I kept reading I wasn't necessarily putting everything into practice. Mastin suggests that if you skip a few days you should restart. So that is what we are doing today. I have to say, the parts I have read have stuck with me. Sometimes I find myself thinking negatively and I think ok, why am I feeling like this and what is triggering it? And that is one of the things I already feel I will continue to do thanks to this book.
My point of view about this book is that it is about a complete Lifestyle Change from within. There is a quote that I always believe to be true " You are your worst enemy". But you don't have to be your worst enemy, right? or maybe you think " How can I possibly be my own worst enemy?". Well the answer is: Sometimes we hold ourselves back ( procrastination, Self-Doubt, Pessimism, we believe ourselves to be unworthy .ect ). This book encourages you to think at what is holding you back in your life and it teaches you to identify your thought patterns so that you can move past them and start the journey to finding your purpose.
Mastin Kipp says something that resonated with me when I first started reading. " Finally life hits you with a crisis you cannot ignore.I call these moments Divine Storms." He then goes on to mention that Divine Storms are when everything in your life seems like it's against you. That hit me like a train coming full speed. Why? That was exactly how I was feeling in that moment. I felt like I came crashing down and all of a sudden I felt broken. I remember clearly telling a friend last year ( 2016) " 2017 is going to be my year. I know it ".And now here we were mid-year and I was facing some of the biggest challenges I have ever faced in my life. What did I do? I felt lost and for a minute I wanted to stay there in those emotions. Although 2017 had great highlights everything came down to one choice. Sometimes we choose wrong and that is the best way I can describe my situation. I lost a lot of things I loved and I noticed that I had lost myself first and that is what led me to my Divine Storm. I wasn't passionate about the things I use to love, in fact I felt like I wasn't passionate about anything in life and honestly that is a scary place to be. So I decided I couldn't stay in that thought process and I decided to start doing things I use to love, reading, writing and running. The first book I picked up was Mastin Kipps and it was the wake-up call I needed. I am doing much better now but I have a long way to go and I know this book will enhance this. I cannot wait to share this journey with you guys and share what I am learning. I will be back tomorrow to share with you guys what I have learned in Chapter 1. This was kind of a preview. I have already read it but will officially start reviewing my 40-Day Challange as of tomorrow.
I also want to mention that starting this blog and my #bookstagram account was thanks to this book. Initially I opened my account Dreaminginlosangeles as a place to share photographs of things I enjoyed but once I picked up books again and found #bookstagram it all fell together and I decided to open this blog to expand these things that I love..
