""A life without love is like a year without summer" - Jenna Evans Welch

Overall Rating 4/5

Heart warming and moving.

Synopsis ( From Good Reads ) :

“I made the wrong choice.”

Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.

But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father—and even herself.

People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.

My Review:

If you are in the mood for a cute story that will keep you entertained and interested I 100% recommend this. What I liked is that it's not a clique story about teenagers falling madly in love ( although there is a love story ) , it's a story with so much more depth then that. You see a teenager dealing with the loss of her mother and also trying to understand why her father has been absent in her life. She embarks on a journey that pushes her boundaries and lead her to so much more than she expected. She moves to Tuscany about 6 months after the loss of her mom to live with Howard, her father, whom she just learned about and to top it off he lives in a cemetery which she is totally freaked out about. However weird the circumstances may be she makes the most of it. She meets a young boy named Lorenzo, but referred to as Ren , and he helps her find all these secret locations her mom visited and journaled when she was studying abroad in Tuscany. She discovers things she never knew about her mother and all about her moms love story. Seeking answers to her questions she learns that sometimes blood isn't as important as people who really want to be in your life. I loved this story so much, it may be YA but it even had a plot twist so you know I'm into that.
